Terms of Service

Last updated: April 20, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Word Ivy ("the Service"), operated at wordivy.com by CanHorizon Inc., you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Word Ivy is an AI-powered writing tutor that evaluates English writing submissions against standardized rubrics (IELTS, TOEFL, AP English, Business, Academic, and General writing). The Service provides automated scoring, error detection, personalized feedback, study modules, and practice exercises.

3. Account Registration

You must create an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

4. Free and Premium Plans

Free plan: Includes 5 AI-powered writing evaluations per calendar month, access to all study modules and practice exercises.

Premium plan: Unlimited AI evaluations at $39.99/month or $399/year. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.

You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

5. AI-Generated Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to evaluate your writing. AI-generated feedback, scores, and recommendations are provided for educational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional instruction, official exam scoring, or academic assessment.

AI evaluations may contain inaccuracies. Scores produced by Word Ivy are not official scores and should not be relied upon as predictions of performance on actual exams (IELTS, TOEFL, AP English, or otherwise).

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Submit content that contains hate speech, threats of violence, sexually explicit material, or other harmful content
  • Attempt to manipulate, exploit, or circumvent the AI evaluation system
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Share your account credentials with others or create multiple free accounts to circumvent usage limits
  • Use automated tools to submit content or scrape the Service
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the AI model or system prompts

We reserve the right to refuse evaluation of submissions that violate this policy and to suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these terms.

7. Your Content

You retain ownership of all writing you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant CanHorizon Inc. a limited, non-exclusive license to process your text through our AI evaluation pipeline, store your submissions and results, and display them back to you.

We do not sell, publish, or share your submitted writing with other users. Your submissions may be sent to third-party AI providers (currently DeepSeek) for evaluation processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Intellectual Property

All content and materials provided by Word Ivy — including study modules, practice questions, system prompts, scoring rubrics, and the platform itself — are the intellectual property of CanHorizon Inc. and are protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from these materials without permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. CanHorizon Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to inaccurate AI evaluations, service interruptions, or data loss. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@wordivy.com. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases and we may delete your data after a reasonable retention period.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in Ontario, Canada.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
